Play a Central Role in the
Success of Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County
Volunteers at The Arsht Center play a key role in the success of The Arsht Center. This group of people — who come from all walks of life and boast very diverse backgrounds—are united in two key ways: they all have a passion for the arts and have an unwavering commitment to helping The Arsht Center become one of our country’s greatest resources for classical culture, popular entertainment, and performing arts education. As such, they are at the perfect place to witness Miami’s transformation into one of the liveliest cultural capitals of the Americas.
Josephine Carr Perez is just one of the many Arsht Center volunteers who devotes her time and effort to ensure that Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County lives up to its beautiful promise as the best possible place to experience all the joy and excitement that the performing arts can offer. Perez, who was born in Havana, Cuba, grew up in New York City and moved to Miami in 1991, where she lives with her husband Rolando, also a Arsht Center volunteer, in North Miami. "As a volunteer," she says, "I am learning many tasks and facing challenges that give me many rewarding experiences. Evelyn Gigiras, the Center’s Volunteer Services Manager, gives us all the opportunity to work with her and other staff members and to share this wonderful experience. Already we have become a close-knit community and have met many new friends with similar interests."
"After my initial training, I received a tour of the beautifully designed Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House (BOH) and the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall (KCH), a procedures manual, and a list of functions where volunteers are needed. From there, I was ready to embark on this new adventure."
Volunteers are still being recruited for many different and stimulating jobs. The Arsht Center is eager to have volunteers participate as ushers and ticket-takers, to assist with special events, and to serve on a variety
of committees.
"I joined the volunteer family early on," continues Perez."It was very important for me to contribute my time and efforts to this great project. As a volunteer representing The Arsht Center, it gives me great pleasure to greet and assist our patrons, members of the resident and visiting companies and Center staff. Achievement of excellence is my goal
and I hope it will be yours too. I want to invite you to join and be part of this exciting experience. Your commitment to Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County will be your contribution to the cultural growth of this city."

There are as many good reasons to volunteer at Carnival Center for the Performing Arts as there are people
eager to be a part of this great cultural adventure. Below, some of Carnival Center?s very first volunteers share
their thoughts.
“I feel an obligation to give back to this community that welcomed me when I arrived 12
years ago from my native country, Peru. And because I believe that art is so important
to the development of people, I thought that Carnival Center would be a great place to offer my
time and skills to accomplish its mission.” ?Rubi Hurtado, TV and radio producer
“I just moved to Miami with my new husband. I can?t imagine a better use of my free
time than helping Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. I believe that art is the purest
expression of being human, and it?s wonderful that my new city is celebrating this with
the new Center.” ?Maria Fernanda Pellegrini, freelance photographer
“I would like to contribute my time and skills to an organization that I am interested in.
My goals are not only to help this organization in its mission but to sharpen my own
skills and meet other people in the community.” ?Paula Nino, Web editor
